First things first: adherence is a fancy way of saying how you well stick to the medication plan your doctor has written for you. We care about this because the more adherent you are to your medication, the better chance there is to reduce your symptoms and give you control over your respiratory disease.
We figure out this number based on the data we get from your sensor over the last 7 days. If you were scheduled to take 28 puffs from your inhaler this past week, but we only have a record of 14 puffs, then your adherence would be 50% for the week.
We previously calculated adherence based on how many doses of scheduled medication you took that week, but didn’t include the number of puffs taken with each dose. We now exclusively use number of puffs to calculate adherence, which allows us to more accurately measure how much medication you actually took.
