First, make sure you have the sensor correctly installed on your Diskus inhaler. Unsure if it's installed correctly? Have a read of this article.
The Propeller sensor for Diskus detects doses using a combination of factors including: how level you hold your inhaler during the dose, if you are holding it up to your lips and the strength of your breath. When you use your inhaler as recommended by your doctor, the Propeller sensor will do the rest.
Inhaler technique tips from our team clinicians: While holding the diskus level and flat, slide the lever until you hear a click. Breathe out fully, away from the inhaler. Then put your mouth on the mouthpiece (make sure either your top or bottom lip is touching the sensor) and take a very deep and fast breath - this is key! After the deep breath, hold for 10-15 seconds and exhale.
NOTE: If the breath isn't deep and/or fast enough, it is difficult for the sensor to pick up the inhalation and record it as a dose. If you’re following these instructions and still seeing missed doses, remove the sensor from your inhaler, give it a shake and put it back on to reset the threshold of the sensor.
